Caine Carraway?? *SIGH*
Caine Carraway and Alexa Holland are both tied together by the damage their parents caused to them. Alexa's father got involved with Caine Carraway's mother and an incident occured and she was left to die. The father who was Alexa's hero and who she admired, reality soon came crashing down on them. Alexa never forgave him, hated him even, not her mother though and this strained their relationship. She done her best to save herself from her father and get on with her life and not let her father's cowardly choices bring her down with him..and it was working until Alexa's life also came crashing down on her, her mother died before they could fix their relationship then Caine Carraway was the subject of a photo shoot she was working on and in result of that Alexa loses her job.
Alexa wants to fix the damage her father has done to both her and Caine, shattering both their family life. Alexa wants to fix something she didn't break and in return Caine wants to break her and prove she is just like her father, he wants to make her miserable doing so by hiring her as his PA.

The banter between Alexa, Caine and even Harry is an amazing aspect of the book. It really had me smiling the whole way through. One of my absolute favourites part of the book was the Pretty Woman reference!! So bloody funny and Alexa's personality really shines through.
"We met in Hollywood." Henry raised an eyebrow. "Hollywood?"“Mmm-hmm. Boulevard.”I sighed in exaggeration, leaning my chin on my palm in dreamy retrospection. “Oh, those were the days. I was a lowly hooker looking for a white knight, and he was a rich billionaire who didn’t know how to drive a stick. I showed him how and the rest is history.”Henry frowned. “What?”“It’s the plot to Pretty Woman,”Caine said dryly. He leaned against the door to his office with something akin to amusement on his face. He pushed off the jamb and gestured to Henry to follow him. “Did I mention my new PA is a smart-ass?”
Henry chuckled and I couldn’t help grinning at him as he took my good-natured teasing on the chin. He shot me an appreciative look over his shoulder as they walked away. “Until we meet again.”
I nodded and gave him a little wave, a gesture Caine caught as he looked back at me.
He scowled. “Remember what I said. No meddling.”Just like that, the positive vibe of the moment evaporated. “Of course.”I threw him what I hoped seemed like a genuine smile, but it still made him shake his head in annoyance.
“How do you know the plot to Pretty Woman?”I heard Henry ask in amusement.
“Remember Sarah Byrne?”Caine replied.
“The record-breaking five-month relationship. Of course.”
“She had a thing for Richard Gere. I paid the price.”
They disappeared around the corner as Henry laughed. I was smiling right along with him. Sometimes, when Caine remembered to be a normal guy, he was more attractive than ever.

without a doubt the chemistry between Caine and Alexa was so damn hot and palpable from the start to the very end. Samantha Young is absolutely superb at writing the chemistry between two characters and these two characters, sexual chemistry was bouncing off every word, everytime they were together, even when Caine just talked to her, the chemistry, the tension, the spark that ignites and bloody explodes right into the reader when these two characters were around eachother. HE. IS. HOT!!! wow. I cannot praise Samantha enough, she is truly superb at creating tension, at creating the right feel for the moment. Amazing.
'Quite abruptly Caine put his hands on the armrests of my chair and shoved it against the desk as he bent down to level his face with mine. He was so close I could actually see the chocolate coloring in his eyes that stopped them from being entirely black, and his mouth... his mouth was an inch from mine. I held my breath from the shock of his sudden movement and his closeness. "First of all," he said through clenched teeth, his hard stare holding mine in it's grip, "do I look like a man who would ever put a kiss at the end of a message?"
this is so bloody HOT. It will have your breath hitching, fastening a notch and fanning yourself and maybe even blushing a bit!! Caine is a force and Alexa can hold her own and is a strong woman who knows what she wants. It is funny and the 'side characters' are just as important and beautifully written into Hero, they are not just pointless fillers for Alexa and Caine's story. Mrs. F and Henry had great signifigance for me! They simply made Hero what it is, just as much as Caine and Alexa, I got very much invested in them. I got invested so much in this story that I wasn't looking forward in a story like I always am, I always expect certain things in a book, not in a bad way, I like them I like knowing they're going to come up I like to know where it's going BUT I didn't with this I got so invested in Caine and Alexa that I was simply just hanging on every word and taking the story as it came and not trying to analyze what was going to happen which I usually ALWAYS do and I was pleasantly surprised by this and so happy!! It's been a couple of days and I still have a major Caine Carraway hangover and am missing him so much! THANK YOU SAMANTHA YOUNG!!
Now as much as I love Caine, he frustrated me like no other. He was constantly doubting. Doubting himself. Doubting their 'relationship'. It frustrated me because they were always so close but then so far away. I just wanted to shake Caine at times!! I shouted at my kindle. Yep anothr frustrating hot alpha male. I just can't seem to get enough of them!
As their story progresses, so does their relationship, both tell themselves that it is casual sex, that they can have sex without feelings and without any mis-conceived illusions of the ending. Past and present issues arise. Can they help eachother? Is their past just too damaging? will they admit how they really feel? to eachother? to themselves? are they just too late?
