Fisher's Light

Synopsis:
Fisher,
I guess this is it, huh? After fourteen years together, starting a life of our own on this island, five deployments and countless letters I’ve written you through it all, I finally go out to the mailbox and see something I’ve always dreamed of: an envelope with your handwriting on it. For one moment, I actually thought you’d changed your mind, that all the awful things you said to me were just your way of coping after everything you’d been through. I was still here, Fisher. I was still here, holding my breath, waiting for you to come back even though you told me you never would. You always said you’d find your way back to me. Out of all the lies you’ve told me, this one hurts the most.
Enclosed you will find the signed divorce papers, as requested.
I hope you find what you’re looking for. I’m sorry it wasn’t me.
Lucy
To get the ending they want, Lucy and Fisher will have to go back to the beginning. Through the good and the bad, they’ll be reminded of why they always made their way back to each other, and why this time, one way or another, it will be the last time
5 stars, hell I'd give it ten!! ******
REVIEW:
I don't know where to start!!! This was one of the most anticipated upcoming releases for me!! I was itching for it to come out. Getting little snippets of it I knew it was going to be great. I hadn't anticipated just how beautifully amazing and gripping it would be. I should have known. It is Tara Sivec after all!
Ex marine suffering with PTSD, Fisher pushes everyone and everything away. Including her. The love of his life. The one he promised he would always make his way back to. He is determined to keep that promise and find his way back into the life, and heart of the love of is life, his woman.
"I'm going to remind her why we're perfect for each other.
I'm going to show her that there's no one else on this earth that can love her like I can."
Lucy willingly and lovingly, without even a second thought supported her husband through everything, Through him going to war, not knowing when and IF he will get back to her. She waited for him every-time he came back a little bit broken and different from when he left, and she done it whole heartedly until Fisher forced her out of his life for good....
Being a marine and going to war changed Fisher, Changed the world, changed his relationship...
But it also changed Lucy, she wasn't the shy innocent girl he married anymore she was stronger in so many ways.
"NO! You fucking stop! Stop treating me like I'm going to break and like I can't take what's going on inside of you!"
I loved loved loved, the development of this story, the growth of the characters. Together and apart. I loved how we got glimpses of the past when they were together, getting to see just what Fisher was dealing with by him self. Between the present day and the past you really go on a journey with these characters. And for me in a story that is so important, that you feel like your experiencing it with them, that it feels like it's so real, that your there with them, feels like you can almost touch it. The words Tara wrote really came to life.
There are many side characters, in other books, and in this book. But there are none that match up to Trip Fisher! Wise man. Funny. down to earth and a right old charmer at the age of 83. Fisher's grandfather is probably one of my favourite characters. ever, I WANTED TO ADOPT HIM!!!
one of the many reasons I love Trip so much; he says it how it is.
"Since when did you turn into such a pussy? I thought Marines were bad asses who didn't take no for an answer?... Strap on those balls the military gave you and go get your woman back."
tIt's beautiful, emotional, heart wrenching and heart warming. A story everyone needs to have the chance to read. It is truly a gift. All books are a gift, they really are. It's amazing what authors and readers can experience. But this? This is something real special. Tara's talent just gets stronger and stronger with every story she tells. Tara is known for her comedy in books and while a lot of readers and reviewers were saying this was the book that hadn't got the comedic factor to it. But it did, and it was right where and when it needed to be. Perfect. This will have your heart aching, your eyes welling, it will make you smile from ear to ear while also have you ugly cry, it will even make you feel guilty and will have you laughing out aloud, especially at how many different ways a persons name can be mess up. bloody hilarious.
I have absolutely no experience with this, with PTSD, with any one who is in the military or with a military back ground, so sometimes I struggled with understanding the characters' choices sometimes but that soon stopped and I understood a little bit more than before I read this. It will get you thinking about this story, about all the men, woman and children who live this life and I have always had respect for the people who do this, who fight for their country, who sacrifice their lives for the families who are at home. It's amazing, but getting some insight into that world, their lives, leaves you with so much respect and admiration. This book hit me on such an emotional level, such a personal level (even though I don't have any experience with it), it was just something very special. There won't ever be another like this book.
Ok I know I have been babbling but I cannot praise this enough, If you have read this, please review it and tell your friends and family about it because EVERYONE needs to read this book. This story will never leave you.

My favourite part from the book.
"We're done, this is over. I'm packing your shit and you're leaving."
I'm sorry, I love you, please forgive me.
"Everything is fucked up, don't you get that? It's ruined, all of it is ruined and you need to fucking leave."
I'm so sorry, I love you, please forgive me.
"You need to get a life."
I'm sorry, I love you, please forgive me.
"All those sad pathetic letters."
I'm lying, don't believe me, please don't believe me. I loved your letters, I kept them all and I cherish every one of them.
"I prefer women with a little more experience."
I don't mean it. I don't mean any of it. Knowing I'm the only man who has ever been inside of you makes me feel like a fucking king and the luckiest man alive. I'm sorry, I love you, please forgive me.
"It doesn't get better when I come home to you. I hate this life."
I'm lying! Every word is a lie. I love our life and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I love you, I love you, I love you.
