Dimpled smile of a boy
Hard body of a man
Sings like an angel
Fucks like the devil
I was stuck between a rock(star) and a hard place.
At fifteen, his poster hung on my bedroom wall. At twenty-five his body hovered over mine. Every girl’s fantasy became my reality. I was dating a rockstar. Yet I was slowly falling for another man. The problem was—the two men—they shared a tour bus.
Flynn Beckham was the opening act.
Dylan Ryder was the headliner.
What happens when the opening act begins to shine so bright, it seems to dim everything else in its wake?
I’ll tell you what happens. Things get ugly.
Excerpt
Ten minutes later I’m still alone behind the bar and Avery is nowhere to be found. I’m sure she’s in the back alley smoking, even though she swears every day that she’s quit. I check the IDs of three very young-looking pretty girls—they’re over twenty-one, but barely. I can’t miss their conversation.
“Seriously, he has to be gay.”
“Why, because he hasn’t noticed you yet?”
“No, because he’s too perfect to be straight.”
“Could we buy someone a drink?” one of the young blondes asks me.
“Of course. What do you want me to send over?”
They giggle for a few minutes, then decide on a Screaming Orgasm for their intended target. I mix the vodka, Bailey’s and Kahlua and pour it over a tumbler of ice.
“Okay. Who’s the lucky recipient?”
All three of them point to the other end of the bar and say in unison, “Him.”
Lord. That is one beautiful man.
The three blondes were clearly not the only ones to notice. The brunette next to him with her full boobage on display is giving him her rapt attention when I walk over. Yet I feel his eyes on me as I walk down the long bar. I’m used to being hit on. Men seem to find an attractive woman whose sole purpose is to deliver them alcohol an alluring combination. They tend to become even bolder after tossing back a few drinks.
Halfway down the bar, I stop to refill a beer for a patron. I don’t need to look up as I pour to know Beautiful Man is still watching me. The hair on the back of my neck is all the confirmation I need. He never takes his gaze off me, even when I turn, catch his eyes, and silently call him on his staring.
“I’m here to deliver you a Screaming Orgasm.” Damn, he’s even hotter up close. Sandy-brown, shoulder-length hair tousled just the right amount to make him look like he’s just gotten laid. Long, lean torso, tattoos on his forearms peeking out from his long-sleeve fitted shirt. Nice. Then he smiles. Dimples. Yep. He definitely just got laid.
“Thank you. But I have a ladies-first policy.” He winks.
I stare at him for a moment, then drop my eyes down to the drink, leading him to follow.
“Oh. You meant the drink.” He smirks—it’s sexy as hell, and he knows it.
I roll my eyes, but there’s a reluctant smile hidden just beneath the surface. “It’s from the three barely legal ladies down at the end.” I nod in their direction and all three smile broadly and wave.
“Well, that’s disappointing.”
I arch an eyebrow. “Those three women buying you a drink with a name that tells you what their plans are for you later is a disappointment?”
“I thought you were buying me the drink.”
Cheesy, I know, but there’s a flutter in my stomach nonetheless. “Sorry. But you get the Doublemint triplets as a consolation prize.” I shrug, trying to come off nonchalant, and turn to walk away. This close to him, the guy is making me fidget. It’s a big bar, but the way he looks at me makes me feel like we’re in a confined space.
“Wait,” he calls after me, and I turn back. “What’s your name?”
I smile and point at the sign over the bar. Lucky’s
MY REVIEW
4 stars * * * *
"I'm falling for another guy's girl. Something I'd promised myself I'd never do."
So first of all I want to say I DO NOT read triangles. In actual fact I avoid them at all costs, seriously I refuse to read them, I know I miss out on some amazing books because of this but that, along with cheating are HELL NO-GO'S for me. Two people + HEA. Thank you very much! lol. Yes I read the synopsis before I signed up for this. "No. It's clearly a triangle don't do it." "ooooh. but look at that cover." "Yes but it well could be a triangle. You hate love triangles remember?" "Yeah ok" So after having this very important, valid argument with myself. The cover pulled me to the dark side, I caved and read my first love triangle.
It's a rock star romance so a lot of the story is based around music and bands. I'll give my best break down of the plot line without giving too much away. While Lucky works in the bar she owns, music runs through her veins. She loves music, loves to help with it, loves to listen to it. oh and also loves rockstars.
Dylan Ryder. The rockstar who Lucky was dating. The leading rockstar of his band and an ego so big it has the power to crush everything around him.
Flynn Beckham. SIGH. He is possibly the easiest Book Boyfriend to fall in love with, ever. gosh. A new and upcoming rockstar in his own band, gets the chance to open for one of the biggest bands. Just his luck he goes and falls for the main rockstar's girl. Flynn and Lucky have a sizzling hot instant attraction. It's not only one sided, however, only one of them is available. There is a choice to be made, right or wrong, it can only be one.
"The question isn't what we're going to do.It's what are you going to do. Because I'm right here waiting for you to figure it out."
I liked Lucky from the start. She had just the right, equal amounts of sassy and sarcasm. My favourite! She had a touch of vulnerability which I love in any character. She had some troubles from an experience in her past and she was working at them, as best she could. Throughout the second half I wanted to scream at her. "GIRRRRL??! Seriously??" She was in a not so great situation, but, she actually put herself there, she ran into it willingly. I got frustrated at her plenty, never disliked or hated her though. Vi's writing made me try to understand it from Lucky's point of view. I never understand or condoned some of her actions but I held out hope she would make the right choices.
"Why can't we stay in the blur?"
"I don't know. But once you cross that line, there's no coming back."
Dylan. Ok so I have got to talk about considering he was a kind of big part of the story. He's a douche from the start. There's a difference between being confident, being cocky and just being a big Douche. He was rude, all because he was jealous of the new, young rockstar, Flynn. There was one tiny, tiny moment of insanity where I thought "Aww maybe..." no. he went and opened that mouth of his again. I didn't condone what happened but I didn't feel sorry for Dylan either, you'll understand as you learn more about him and just how he acts. His character makes it super easy if you're all for picking sides in a triangle, who you pick in this one.
"That's why I'm glad I'm the king."
Flynn. He is perfection. The only thing, he falls for another guy's girl but seriously he's just so dreamy. He's so sweet and has such protective instincts. Yes, with Lucky but also with his family. His interactions with his niece, omg. He's a laid back kind of guy, he's so charming and will have you smiling from ear to ear, every time. He knows he shouldn't be longing after another man's girl, he's well aware of this. He holds back, until that line is crossed. He was really charming but not in a sleazy, cheesy or cringey way, it was just a Flynn way. Yeah, I have totally fallen for him.
"I can't wait till the day I get to wake up next to you and kiss the hell out of you in public."
This was my first Vi Keeland book. I'm not going to lie, I did really enjoy it, I was completely panicking at times! but I did really enjoy it, and I'm so happy I had a moment of insanity because I'm not sure I would have braved it, and Flynn Beckham is so worth it. I am sure this is a tamer triangle than some others and while I did really enjoy it I will not be braving another triangle, ever again. I loved the growth and natural-ish flow to the relationship between Flynn and Lucky. Although, at one point I really, really wanted Flynn to get angry, like really angry at Lucky, but he didn't. Because he's perfect of course. Sigh. There were some difficult situations and topics and Vi Keeland handled them with care and grace. I really liked the side characters, Nolan specifically. I also need more Lainey and hope Flynn's sister gets a book so we get to see more of her. She was so darn cute. I really like Vi's writing and hope if there is more in this series that it's not a triangle because I really would love to read more of her books.
"Morning" He grins wickedly at me. "I just wanted to show you what I plan to have with my morning coffee every day."

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with
three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about
often, but wouldn't change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known
to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking,
during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work. She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
