*´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) THE EXCEPTION BY ADRIANA LOCKE REVIEW *´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨)
SYNOPSIS:
There are exceptions to every rule ...
Jada Stanley is starting over, freeing herself from her past. Following the rules she’s given herself is easy enough, until she meets HIM. He’s gorgeous, cocky, and everything she needs to avoid, but that’s easier said than done.
Cane Alexander has his own set of rules, a plan to keep his life simple and free of complications. But when he sets his sights on Jada, she proves to be a temptation he just can’t resist.
Walls crumble, resolve fades, and precious rules are bent.
They can’t help but take a chance on each other, but chances come with risk. As the past rears its ugly head in ways they never see coming, will they revert back to protecting themselves? Or will they realize that the other is the exception to every rule they’ve ever made?
MY REVIEW
5 EXCEPTIONAL STARS * * * * *--- I'm such a cheeseball I know! hahaha!
Oh Mr. Cane Alexander where do I bloody start with you huh???
"If I close my eyes, maybe she'll disappear.
"That was amazing. So good, Cane."
Maybe not."
Cane Alexander = Ultimate Asshole right? You love him immediately though right??!!
That is literally the first three sentences in the book. I laughed so freaking hard and may have fallen in love just a bit. His asshole tendencies don't stop there either.
He's great right? haha!
Jada Stanley has come back to Boston to be with her little sister, Kari and her father. Her reason - she has finally divorced her fuckstick of a husband. Yep. That's right Fuckstick. Adriana thank your for my new favourite fucking word I love it!! Ok getting back to Jada and Cane! Jada has vowed to herself to never put herself in a situation like that again - never leaving herself vulnerable and protecting her heart. She knows the only way to ensure that is to swear off luring bad boy womanizers. Cue Cane's entrance with them damn beautiful blue eyes and that panty melting smile.
"They were the kind of eyes you could lose yourself in for hours on end.
The kind of eyes that could get a girl in trouble."
Jada stayed true to herself- even as strong as the attraction between her and Cane was she never threw herself at his feet and boyyy was it hilarious to watch poor Mr So-Sure-Of-Himself Alexander trying to get that big head of his around the word no. So fun! I loved Jada for that - obviously I wanted as much as her and Cane I could get but I respected her so much for it in the long run. Jada never played petty games either she pretty much said how it was and I think that's why she'll always e one of my favourite female characters. Probably, my favourite thing about this book was the rock solid romance between Cane and Max. I double dare you not to swoon over the sexy southerner that is Max Quinn - I can almost hear Cane challenging that *insert eyeroll* lol!
"Hey, man! Over here." Max waved an arm over his head before turning his attention back to us, his eyes shining, "I was meeting a friend here for a beer and a bite to eat. I hope Y'all don't mind."
*sighhhh*
The Exception was sweet, it was sexy as hell - seriously. Cane Alexander will turn you to a puddle of goo. It's hard to do a book the justice it deserves without feeling like you've said it before but this really was balanced out perfectly - the sexyness, the shock, the banter and the emotions. And obviously I am immediately reading the perception will be anticipating the release of Sacrifice. EEEEEK.
