I'll Sing For My Dinner interview

My Interview with BR Kingslover :-) she was so nice and                  answered all my questions! check it out! :-)

Hi BR Kingsolver Thank you for doing interview with me.

1)I've seen other interviews where you don't really like to talk about yourself. So I won't ask you to describe yourself, I'll just start off with asking how are you??
I'm doing fine. It's not that I don't like to talk about myself, I just don't think I'm very interesting, but I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. :)

2)So I have just recently finished, your new release,"I'll sing for my dinner". wow. Where did the idea for this story come from?
It started with a single idea. A girl hitchhiking with a guitar and trying to find places to play. The idea sort of rattled around in my head for a while, and when I finished my last book, I wrote the first chapter and sent it to a friend. She loved it, so I started writing the next chapter. I didn't have an outline or really any idea where the story was going.

3) How did you do the research for this book,?
All of the research was done on the internet. I do like music and played guitar when I was younger, and I've attended performances in some of the places mentioned in the book. As far as the setting, I went to college and lived in northern Colorado for some time.

4) For me it was quite emotional, and some scenes were tougher than others to read, did you have to take a step back from writing some days with certain scenes in the story?
This book was revised several times. I had a couple of people who are abuse survivors help me to understand their perspective and they read it multiple times helping me with the language and the emotions. What was difficult for me, however, was listening to their stories. I felt very fortunate that they were able to share their experiences with me, and very humbled when they told me that reading the book and working with me on it had helped them in their ongoing recovery.

5)I think this is a story that not many authors have approached to do.How do you think readers will react to this story or how have they been reacting so far?
I was surprised that some people want to read it because they have suffered unspeakable things in their own lives. I would have thought that they would have avoided it. I had 15 people read it and give me feedback, in some cases weeks-long conversations, so I had a pretty good idea when I got ready to publish it what kinds of reactions I'll get. Some people's reactions were very negative, but they were a very small minority. I know it will be difficult for some readers, and some may not be able to finish it.

The thing is, violence toward women is so widespread throughout the world. We can't just sweep it under the rug and ignore it. In some of my previous works I've addressed the issue of human trafficking. Such things are real and I think is as valid for fiction audiences as other types of plots.

6) So, is that it for Cecily and Jake? Is that their story done?
I don't have any plans for another book with those characters. I think they deserve their happy ending.

7) Music, was a huge part of this story, I loved it. Is music a huge part of your life? who is your favourite music artist?
I have extremely eclectic musical tastes. I grew up in Santa Fe, which has one of the premier summer operas in the world. I like folk and classic rock music, Irish music, flamenco ... I could go on. I like good music. Here in Baltimore and Washington, I go out to listen to jazz, blues, Irish, as well as musical theater, opera, ballet.

8) Will any of the other characters in this  book like Jared maybe?, get a story too?
You're the second person who has asked me if Jared will get a book. I'll have to think about it. :)

9)  We get a snippet of Trust: a truly modern romance another of new release from you. Can you tell us more about that?
Trust was originally published last fall under the title Ashley's Dream. It literally sold one book in two months. So I pulled it back, revised it to address some issues, and put a new cover on it.

Trust is about a young woman who has just graduated from college. Her dream is to travel the world and looks for a job with international resort and travel companies. She's had terrible luck with love, so she's not interested in romance, but she likes men and men like her. She has some terrific friends and the story is about her search for a career and a man she can trust. Here's the blurb for the book:
The history of my relationships reads like the Titanic meets a tornado during an earthquake. Disaster after disaster. For some reason, I'm always attracted to lying jerks. I finally decided that it's better to just have a good time and no one gets hurt. That philosophy worked for my last two years of college.

Then I let myself get pulled in again by a pair of broad shoulders, pretty hazel eyes, and kisses that turned my brain to mush. Of course he was lying to me. All my friends told me something wasn't right, but I'm such a fool.

When it all went wrong, I didn't expect his tall, dark, and handsome roommate being there to catch me. I think I love him. But can I trust him? He makes me happy. Can I trust myself?

Ashley graduated from college and isn’t looking for romance. What she needs is a job and the career she’s worked so hard to achieve. Can her dream of working overseas survive a man who seeks to capture her heart?

10) And lastly. Is there anything your working on that you can tease us about?
Oh, I wish I could. I've been floundering for the past couple of months trying to find a new project. It will either be a college-age romance, an urban fantasy about an elemental witch, or a high fantasy ... I'm just not sure at this point. All of those stories will get written at some point, but I'm not sure in what order.

Thank you so much for doing this with me and congratulations and good luck on your new releases and with the blog tour! :-)
Thank you for hosting me on your blog. I really appreciate it
