SYNOPSIS
CRIMSON DESERT is Book Two of the Bittersweet Duet. Book One, LITTLE DOLL is key to the progression of the story.
Now back across the border, Laila realizes that all had not been as it seemed at the Florez mansion. Learning to trust the man she wanted dead was going to take time. Time was not on her side.
For Aiden, the damage was done. There was no going back. Except for one thing… revenge.
Giving up was never an option for Juan. Not even now when everything had changed. He lived and breathed the thrill of the chase and this time the end prize was too great to lose.
This is a dark story where the taste for love and revenge clash in the most unforgiving ways.
This story contains graphic and confronting scenes.
MY REVIEW
5 STARS * * * * *
This is the conclusion to the story of Aiden, Juan, Hector and Laila and the crazy ride they have been on since that day she turned up looking for her missing brother Ethan who is also a big puzzle and important role in this suspenseful dark story.
So if you read Little Doll - which you need to because Crimson Desert will make little to no sense if you haven't read the beginning of this story in Little Doll. Like I said from Little Doll you will know how things got tense, things got out of hand in this fucked up cartel family mess and as we drew nearer to the end - questions were answered and just as quick there was more questions hanging in the air.
who could be trusted, really?
Ok so Aiden is officially one of my new favourite Hero's. He has been torn from the start - which I may add I shouted all the answers that were clearly in front of him but he didn't listen *shrugs*. Nothing about this story and especially nothing about this man was easy!! My favourite thing about him though was yes he was caring and protective and he clearly had a heart but this wasn't your typical just sweep in and save everything kind of hero - no, he had to thread carefully and make decisions- and he was far from perfect, he was easily as messed up as the villains in this story and it was a very thin line between them - but every hero needs a villain right?
Laila on the other hand? holy bloody hell!. She has probably the worst luck ever along with being mixed up with the worst kind of evil. Dangerously emotionless people but she fought with everything she had determined not to lose herself in their darkness and let them ruin her. I really loved her character, apart from one face palm moment with her - you'll know what I'm talking about when you read it!
Melissa creates the most dangerous events and within that brings people together in the most beautifully cruel way. A game started by an evil, dangerously possessed man claiming what's not his, hell bent on winning the chase until the better end and two people just trying to grasp at some normality in their lives while trying to stay alive.
Suspense and angst.
Lust and Loathing.
Revenge and Relentlessness.
